Alex Murdaugh faces state pushback on Maggie DNA testing and prison laptop request

South Carolina prosecutors filed an opposition to Alex Murdaugh's request for independent DNA testing of evidence recovered from under Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails in connection with the retrial of his murder case. Murdaugh's legal team also requested access to a prison laptop, which prosecutors opposed. The case involves the deaths of Murdaugh's wife Maggie and son Paul in June 2021. Murdaugh was convicted of their murders in March 2023 and sentenced to life without parole, though he has pursued post-conviction relief.
