JONATHAN TURLEY: Fauci took the Fifth—but his diary may have already answered for him
Wednesday, July 29, 2026
Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment during a Senate hearing on January 15, 2026, declining to answer questions about his role in school closure policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Senate investigators presented diary entries attributed to Fauci in which he described coordinating school closure recommendations, according to a report by the Senate Health Committee. Fauci had previously stated publicly that he did not direct school closures. The hearing did not result in any charges or legal action.
