Goldman: Fed Unlikely to Surprise

David Mericle, Chief US Economist at Goldman Sachs, said the Federal Reserve is likely to keep interest rates unchanged despite geopolitical tensions and rising oil prices, according to comments made on Bloomberg Open Interest. Mericle discussed the inflation outlook and said a surprise rate increase is unlikely. He also stated that consumer spending, currently resilient, could weaken later in 2026.
