ICE’s New Detention Center Contracts Declare State Laws ‘Shall Not Apply’

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement posted new contract terms at four detention facilities that declare state laws shall not apply to those facilities. The action occurred one day after a federal judge ordered an ICE detention center to allow state health inspectors access. The new contract language states that federal authority supersedes state regulatory requirements at the facilities.
