Haitian TPS holders in South Florida brace for end of their legal status

Wednesday, July 29, 2026

Haitian nationals in South Florida who hold Temporary Protected Status face the expiration of their legal authorization following a June 2025 Supreme Court decision that permitted the Trump administration to terminate the program. TPS was initially granted to Haitian nationals after a 2010 earthquake, based on a determination that conditions in Haiti made safe return unfeasible. The administration has not yet announced a specific end date for the program.
