GOP governor survives challenge from Bitcoin evangelist in gubernatorial runoff

South Dakota held its first gubernatorial primary runoff, with incumbent Governor Larry Rhoden facing challenger Toby Doeden after neither received at least 35% of votes in the initial primary election. The runoff was required under state law when no candidate reaches the threshold in the general primary. Rhoden won the runoff vote.
