Trump, DOJ ask Supreme Court to toss $83.3M defamation award to E. Jean Carroll

President Donald Trump and the U.S. Department of Justice filed a petition with the Supreme Court requesting it overturn an $83.3 million defamation award to E. Jean Carroll. The Supreme Court had previously declined to hear Trump's appeal of a separate $5 million verdict in Carroll's favor. Carroll won the $83.3 million judgment in January 2024 after a jury found Trump liable for defamation and sexual abuse.
