Artist Betye Saar, who used repurposed objects to reclaim identity, has died at 99

Betye Saar, an artist known for creating works from repurposed objects, died at age 99. In a 2006 NPR interview, Saar stated, "I'm the kind of person who recycles materials, but I also recycle emotions and feelings." She died shortly before what would have been her 100th birthday.
