New Yorkers will soon need to verify their age to access algorithmic feeds

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced final rules implementing the SAFE for Kids Act, which requires users in New York to verify their age to access algorithmic feeds on platforms including Instagram and TikTok, or to receive notifications after midnight. The rules take effect following Governor Kathy Hochul's signing of the legislation. Platform operators must verify age using methods approved by the state before granting access to these features.
