Luigi Mangione plea talks raise showdown over Brian Thompson murder trial

Manhattan prosecutors said they could oppose any federal plea deal for Luigi Mangione if it interferes with his New York murder trial scheduled for September 8, 2026. Mangione faces charges in connection with the death of Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare executive. Federal authorities have also brought charges against Mangione in a separate case.
