Debt-ridden Democrats tap a surprising asset as collateral for $15M loan

The Democratic National Committee borrowed $15 million using its headquarters building as collateral. The committee carried $18.5 million in debt at the time of the loan. The Republican National Committee maintained a larger cash reserve.
