Amazon’s trying to launch a global satellite cellphone network in 2028

Amazon filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission to launch a constellation of 5,105 satellites intended to provide voice, messaging, data, and emergency services directly to devices. The company stated it plans to begin deploying the satellites in 2028 if the application is approved. Amazon said it intends to partner with mobile network operators to offer the service.
