First US LNG Shipment to China in a Year to Be Re-Exported

Monday, July 27, 2026

The first US liquefied natural gas shipment to China in more than a year is scheduled to be re-exported rather than consumed domestically, according to companies involved in the transaction. The decision reflects efforts to access higher-margin markets outside China and avoid tariff costs. The shipment marks a resumption of US LNG exports to China after more than a year without such deliveries.
