The US is charging an American citizen for wiping his phone at the border

Sam Tunick, a US citizen, was charged in federal court for allegedly providing authorities with a password that wiped his phone when agents attempted to seize it at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on January 24, 2025. Federal agents detained Tunick at the airport during a search related to an investigation into child exploitation images. Tunick's legal team filed a motion contesting the charges, according to court records.
