Rage-giving, innovation and cuts: How public media has survived without federal funds

A year after President Trump signed legislation ending federal funding for public media that had lasted six decades, public television and radio stations across the country have implemented changes to their operations and funding models. The law eliminated annual appropriations that had supported programming and station operations. Public media organizations have since pursued alternative revenue sources including increased donations, corporate sponsorships, and new programming initiatives. Stations reported mixed results in their transition away from federal support.
