Saturday, July 25, 2026
Simone Biles, Caitlin Clark, and other prominent female athletes have made public statements regarding transgender athletes competing in women's sports. Biles stated in 2024 that she believed transgender women should be allowed to compete if they meet sport-specific eligibility requirements. Clark has not made a detailed public statement on the topic. Sophie Cunningham of the Phoenix Mercury said in 2024 that she supported policies limiting transgender women's participation in women's sports. Other athletes including Serena Williams and Mia Hamm have declined to comment extensively on the issue.
