Fired school counselor loses again after free speech fight over gender-themed books in his office

An Oregon school counselor's appeal of his termination was denied by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The court ruled that the counselor's book display in his office constituted government speech rather than personal speech protected by the First Amendment. The counselor had displayed books addressing gender identity in his office at the school. The court determined the display fell within the school's authority to regulate.
