Survivors of communist regimes testified at a House Republican roundtable on July 21 about their experiences with imprisonment, religious persecution, economic hardship, political indoctrination, and restrictions on freedoms. The event included warnings to Americans about adopting policies the survivors attributed to harm in their former countries. One survivor made a statement comparing certain policy directions to regression.
