European Union grants US request to restrict satellite images of Iran War region
Friday, July 24, 2026
The European Union authorized a temporary restriction on satellite imagery from its Copernicus program covering parts of Iran and surrounding regions, according to EU officials. The restriction was implemented following a request from the United States. Copernicus satellites provide publicly available Earth observation data used by governments, researchers, and media organizations worldwide. The timing coincided with escalated military activity between the United States and Iran in 2026.
