Quantum computers currently cannot perform commercially useful tasks because existing machines are too small and contain too many errors to solve real-world problems, according to researchers in the field. The Trump administration's science adviser announced a goal to develop a quantum computer capable of scientific discovery by 2028, and Trump issued a related executive order. Quantum computing remains in early development stages.
